Accessibility

Last updated: July 24, 2026

Parenting the Spectrum serves families raising autistic and neurodivergent children, so accessibility is not an afterthought here. It is part of who this site is for. We want every parent to be able to use this website, including people who rely on screen readers, keyboard navigation, captions, magnification, or other assistive technology.

The standard we build to

We build and test this site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2, Level AA. In practice, that means every page works from a keyboard alone, images have descriptions, text stays readable against its background, form fields have clear labels, and the site respects your device's reduced-motion setting.

How we test

New and changed pages go through automated accessibility scans, a keyboard-only pass, and screen reader checks. We audit the full site on a recurring basis and keep dated records of what we test and fix. Accessibility is ongoing work: when we find an issue, we fix it.

Tell us if something is hard to use

If any part of this site is difficult to use with assistive technology, we want to know. Email merrieweekley@spectrumparenting.org with "Accessibility" in the subject line, and tell us which page you were on and what got in the way. A real person reads every message, and we aim to respond within two business days.
